2. Jenni Rivera’s career
Dolores Janney Rivera Saavedra was an American singer, best known for her
work in the regional Mexican music genre. She sang in the styles of Mariachi,
Banda, and Norteo. Her career spanned decades and was influenced by Mexican
music. While she was known for her contemporary work, many fans also
appreciate her classic Mexican repertoire. If you haven’t yet heard her music,
here are some of her best known tracks.
In 1984, Jenni’s drive for success was evident from an early age. She became
pregnant while still in her sophomore year of high school. Despite her challenging
circumstances, she pursued her education and eventually earned a degree in
business administration from Cal State Long Beach. In addition, Jenni worked in
real estate before pursuing her music career. She remained in the spotlight long
after her death, though.
3. Her film Filly Brown
The late singer Jenni Rivera starred in this biopic about a young hip hop artist. As her
star starts to rise, she must make difficult decisions about her identity. The film
contains graphic beating scenes, an almost-rape scene and heavy swearing. Parents
should be aware that this film is not suitable for children under the age of 13.
The film’s distribution troubles also contributed to the movie’s under-the-radar status.
The original Indomina Group was having financial difficulties, and the film was passed
on to Pantelion. The movie suffered a setback, though, when the producers were hit by
lawsuits citing production and distribution issues. The movie was never formally signed
by Rivera and the producers didn’t even give her an acting contract. Tragically, Rivera
died in a plane crash before its major release.
