1. Juice.ph Welcomes Lui Tortuya as Its New Blogger
By: The Juice.ph Team
From one job description to another, Lui Tortuya’s got a lot on his plate. As
restaurateur, he’s usually up to no good at Tomato Kick, his restaurant on Katipunan. He gets
the laughs going at open-mic stand-up comedy nights with the boys of Comedy Cartel.
Keeping tabs on real stories of real people, he also records episodes for his podcast channel,
indioaudioproject.com. As if that’s not enough, this Fil-Am set up one of the original
hardcore surf shops in Manila, Fiveforty Surf Co. It’s no surprise that Lui Tortuya is one of
the major pioneers of surfing in the country. Having spent 12 years as a lifeguard in Long
Beach, California, and a member of the UCLA varsity surf team, Lui came home and made
his mission to promote surfing in the Philippines. He’s doing good on that charge seeing that
he was the first president of the Manila Surfers Association. Lui spreads the good vibrations
by organizing surf tours and lessons for his Quiksilver surf school in Zambales. Between
several of his day jobs, he wastes time listening to podcasts or watching YouTube videos, and
recommends Juice.PH’s Battle Burger! We’re stoked to welcome perpetual summer chaser,
Lui Tortuya, as a Juice celebrity blogger!
