Club Review for Rolling Out Magazine

1. Motor Lounge-
Motor Lounge as I imagine, gives the impression of
an apocalyptic dungeon, enticing those that enter
into enslavement with its tempting music and wicked
surroundings. Escapists, ' Rolling on Ecstasy', or
other mood enhancers would pile up by the hundreds
for a trip fest. Included were the glitter endowed
club kids that would reside at this reality hide
out, resembling fiendish Rainbow Brite Characters.
In the early years of Motor Lounge, liquor would
suffice the social hunger of club dwellers. Packed
dancers, in the hip-hop room would break to the
beats of bass music, while the main floor resident
DJ's such as; Shortround, Minx, or Carl Craig.
would arouse a frenzy of movement amongst the rave
crowd. Partiers worshiped every technical skill and
needle effort made by the record spinners to show
them who really was in charge that night. The back

2. area of the club was layered with artwork,
attracting playboys and sexy girls. Sounds of acid
jazz poured from the numerous speakers, almost
resembling a moment out of a British Magazine.
Recently my posse and I went to Motor for old times
sake, and were taken back by the unusual energy, it
was freaky (in a creepy way). Even though the set-
up was constructed to add a foxier image, I have to
admit people were more twisted than usual, and
seemed drugged -out to excess. This one girl was
so strung out, she couldnt decide if she wanted to
dance or stand still. It was like Night of the
Living dead with zombies, but there was a kick ass
DJ playing in the main room that dared people not
to be wallflowers. Can someone please save the
souls of the clubbers at Motor Lounge so I can go
back, and enjoy the atmosphere without all the
reminders of horror flicks.
