- John Goerzen presented on using Linux as the corporate desktop at OSCON 2008. He discussed the motivations, expected benefits, and how they implemented Linux desktops at their company. - Some of the benefits expected included cost savings, a single system image, and relying on public domain software. They contributed to various open source projects to help with their implementation. - They found that things like OpenOffice, hardware support, and virus protection worked well. Issues included some application incompatibilities and needing to test hardware first. - Overall, the implementation was successful. They saw cost savings, stability, and fewer issues compared to Windows. Employees had a positive experience and the company no longer wanted to use
