efficiency.1
By adding a 115-volt lithium-ion battery and replacing the traditional
alternator with a 15-kW motor-generator unit, Malibu Eco is able to pump out
an EPA-estimated 25 MPG city/37 highway.
How it works: Use your momentum and don’t waste fuel
eAssist works to first capture energy, then release that energy to assist the powertrain — and help save fuel:
• Regenerative braking captures energy normally lost during braking or when coasting off-throttle and converts
it into electricity to charge the lithium-ion battery
• When slowing down, the fuel is cut off and the motor-generator unit continues to
spin along with the engine. This provides smooth take-off power when you want to
speed up again
• The engine automatically shuts off when the car is stopped, while the lithium-ion battery continues to power
amenities such as climate control and infotainment systems. When you release the brake pedal, restarting is
immediate and seamless

Malibu Eco drivers get an instant read on their system status from two
full-color, high-resolution screens — one in the gauge cluster and one in
the radio display. The Power Flow Display indicates which mode eAssist
is in. There’s also an Eco gauge that tells you when you’re driving in the
ideal “green zone.” And the Auto Stop indicator in the tachometer shows
when the engine is stopped.

Malibu engineers not only paid attention to fuel efficiency, design and amenities, they also
put a top priority on safety. Available on 2LT, 3LT and LTZ models, Lane Departure Warning
chimes in when your Malibu crosses a detected lane (above 35 mph) without you signaling
first. An indicator light also flashes in the gauge cluster.
Forward Collision Alert
This all-new feature, available on 2LT, 3LT and LTZ models, consists of a camera mounted on
the windshield that continuously monitors the proximity of the vehicle driving in front of you.
Based on your speed and the distance to the vehicle in front of you, a warning sound and visual
indicator alert the driver to help avoid a potential collision.

Malibu, not including Malibu Eco models built before July 2012, now
features dual-stage frontal and knee air bags for driver and front
passenger, head-curtain side-impact air bags for front and rear
outboard passengers, and front and rear seat-mounted air bags to

The safety of OnStar 2
is standard for six months and includes Automatic
Crash Response. In many crashes, built-in sensors can automatically
alert an OnStar Advisor, who is immediately connected into your Malibu

NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY. GM vehicles registered in the USA are covered for 36,000 miles/
3 years (whichever comes first). The complete vehicle is covered, including tires, towing to

be made to correct any vehicle defect, and most warranty repairs will be made at no charge.

SPARE TIRE INFORMATION. There is no standard jack or spare tire in the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Your vehicle
has a tire sealant and compressor kit that uses a liquid tire sealant to temporarily seal up to a one-quarter-inch
puncture in the tread area of the tire. After using the tire inflator kit, it is recommended that you take the tire
to an authorized retailer for inspection and repair as soon as possible, but at least within 100 miles of driving.
The tire sealant cannot seal and inflate sidewall damage, punctures larger than one-quarter inch, or a tire that
has unseated from the wheel. The sealant can only be used on one tire and for one time before its expiration date.
