1. Chapter
We believe that chapter 23, Death, is the most important chapter of The House of the
Scorpion. The main plot development of this chapter was when El Patron died because Matt
could not supply the organs needed to save El Patrons life. This is because Celia poisoned him
with arsenic. In this chapter Celia really shows how much she loves and cares for Matt. She
makes it known she is willing to risk her life to save Matt’s life. She loved him so much that she
was willing to poison him so that he wouldn’t be used to save El Patron’s life. This chapter also
shows that El Patron didn’t really love Matt or think he was special. We also found out that El
Patron had many clones that had been educated just as Matt was. These are just a few of the
reasons this chapter is the most important in this book.
Another important chapter in The House of the Scorpion is chapter 24.
