             Lesson 58:

*probability - a way of describing the likelihood of an event

                      favorable outcomes
                     all possible outcomes

*sample space - the set of all possible outcomes

*chance - probability expressed as a percent

*complement - the opposite of an event

**FYI...the probability of an event and its complement should add up to 1!

             Lesson 58 Examples:
             A number cube is rolled...
             A) What is the sample space?

             B) What is the probability that the number rolled will be an odd number?

             C) What is the probability that the number will be greater than 5?

             D) What is the complement of the event in letter C?

The "chance" that you will have homework is 75%.
               E) What is the probability that you will have homework?

               F) What is the probability that you will NOT have homework?
