ITT Technical Institute is a for-profit college founded in 1946 that was acquired by ITT Corporation in 1999. It has multiple campuses across 35 states. Tuition is approximately $16,900 per year for a two-year Associate's degree program requiring 96 credit hours taken over 12 quarters with 3 classes per quarter. The document discusses the degrees offered, potential majors in computer/electronics technology or graphic design, and curriculum details. It also notes a 2005 lawsuit against ITT for allegedly inflating grades to increase financial aid funds. The author is interested in attending due to opportunities, proximity to home, and lower cost compared to out-of-state universities.
3. HISTORY
It was found in 1946 as an Educational services, INC. but was
passed over to a ITT corporation by 1999.
There are other campuses in central phoenix, Miami, Chicago
(oak brook), Springfield, and in 35 other states.
4. TUITION AND REQUIRED
FEES
The tuition cost $16,900 per year. It’s a two year program and
to apply for an associates degree it would approximately cost
$47,328. which would require 96 credit hours. There would
be 12 credits per quarter, 3 classes every quarter, and 4
credits per class. But the cost comes out to $493.oo per credit
hour. They also have a high rate of loans.
5. DEGREES OFFERED
The degrees they offer is Associates, Bachelor, and Master’s
( business-only and online) degree
6. MAJOR PROGRAM
The program I would be working on is computer and
electronics technology or graphic design. The degree I would
get it in is an Associates degree.
7. CURRICULUM OF
PROGRAM
The program takes two years to study and there are 12 credit
quarters with 3 classes in every quarter.
8. OTHER INFORMATION
In October 2005, ITT agreed to pay $730,000 to settle a lawsuit with
California in which employees alleged that it inflated students’ grade
point averages so they qualified for more financial aid from the State of
California.
An investigation by WGBA-TV found evidence of widespread grade
inflation. In one instance, a student got 100% on a computer forensics
assignment by emailing the professor a noodle recipe. The station
believes this to be a way to increase federal student aid funding.
9. WHY?
I want to go to ITT-Tech because by observing their
information they look as if they can bring a lot of
opportunity. But, mostly is because it would be closer to
home and it might be cheaper then universities out of state.
