5. FOOD-
-Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a fusion of Indian Culture. This is even
reflected in the food & Cuisine of the local peoples of these Islands.
-The finest of India’s cuisines is as rich as well as diverse as its civilization. It
is an art kind that has been passed on through generations purely by word of
mouth, from guru (teacher) to vidhyarthi (pupil) or from mother to daughter.
-Andaman cuisine is heavily influenced by all the cultures that came into
contact with the region. Like many other aspects of Andaman culture, the
influence of the Hindu, Christian, Muslim and also Sikh religions in the
traditional food is extremely strong. You can observe this deep impact on the
truly tasty and spicy Food of Andamans. Food in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
has roots in the history, geography and also culture of the land.
-Also, the fruits right here is prominent as well as refreshing. You can find
Mangoes, Bananas, Pineapples, Guava and a lot more. One can likewise
drink in the absolutely revitalizing and also exotic coconut water right here
6. RECIPES-
1-FISH CURRY-
• Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan . Add cumin and allow to splutter .Then add onions & salute until golden.
• *Add ginger garlic and fry for 30 to 60 seconds . When they turn fragnant, add tomatoes and half tsp salt.
• *Fry until the raw smell goes away.
• *fry everything well until the onion masala smells good.Ensure the raw smell has gone .Cool this completely.
• *This one and next step are optional. Marinate fish with red chili powder , tumeric , very little salt and ginger garlic paste.
Do not leave this marinated .
• *heat a pan with 1 tsp oil , fry the fish until the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste has gone . You can use the same pan
used to fry the fis
• *Add another tbsp . Oil & heat on a low flame . When the oil turns slightly hot < add curry leaves and green chillies .
• *When the leaves splutter, add the ground paste . Mix everything well
• *Sprinkle garam masala and salt . You can add more red chili powder at this stage to adjust the heat . Fry everything until
the masala smells good
• *On the medium flame boil until the oil begins to seperate and the gravy thickens. This may take 5 minutes. Check the salt
and spices .
• *Add the fish pieces to the gravy and cook for few mis . Fish curry is ready to be served .
7. 2-CHICKEN TIKKA-
. To begin making the Chicken Tikka Masala, thoroughly clean and wash the chicken pieces.
• Add tomatoes and cook them for about two minutes. Add cashews and toss them for a
minute. Allow the onion tomato masala to cool down.
• Heat with a tablespoon of butter. Once the butter melts, add cloves, cinnamon powder, and
cardamom powder and saute until it became red
• Add the onion-tomato-cashew puree to the pan, combine them well
and saute for few minutes.
• Crush kasuri methi with your hand and add to the tikka masala gravy. Add the marinated chicken
pieces, required amount of salt and cream. Toss the chicken tikka masala well so that they are
combined well.
• Simmer the chicken tikka masala for about 5 minutes. If the tikka masala is of thicker consistency,
adjust addition of water according to your requirements.
• Switch off heat and garnish the chicken tikka masala with coriander leaves and it is ready to be served.
• Serve Chicken Tikka Masala

CULTURE OF
ANDAMAN &
NICOBAR -
• The Andaman Islands are home to four ‘Negrito’ tribes – the
Great Andamanese, Onge, Jarawa, and Sentinelese. The Nicob
ar Islands are home to two ‘Mongoloid’ tribes –
the Shompen and Nicobarese. The people of Andaman and
Nicobar speak many languages.
• Peace prevails all over the Island with no political or communal
riots. Not only the beauty of nature and the various enticing
features but also the peace-loving people have made the Andaman
and Nicobar Islands a tourist spot for visitors overseas.
• The people are given quality education. Quality medical facilities
are available. The people are very much aware of their rights and
concessions and so they abide by and maintain their standards.
People enjoy a lot of freedom. They do not have any limitations.
They live in harmony. This is a rare sight that one finds in India,
which is unusual as there are constraints, political and communal
riots, and calm situations in the other parts of India.
9. 1-GANESH
POOJA-
• Ganesh Pooja is commonly observed in the Andaman Islands during
Bhadrapad Sudha Chaturthi, the Hindu calendar month. “Vinayaka
Chaturthi” is another name for it. In Andaman, many Ganesh temples
receive floral decorations and diya lighting, as well as crowds of devotees
who come to offer Lord Ganesha their prayers and Shradhanjali.
• Afterwards, they provide meals like “Kozhukattai” and “Sundal”, which
are subsequently given to the worshippers as Prasad. Priests conduct
Aartis and poojas. During Ganesh Puja, you must visit the Shri Karpaga
Vinyagar at Goal Ghar and the Sri Lakshmi Vinayagar Temple in
Aberdeen Bazaar.
10. 2-COCONUT
FESTIVAL-
• Coconut is the major crop and is considered as one of the most
important remunerative crop of these Islands. The main economy of
the people directly depends on this crop. The islands have over
17.903.80 ha under coconut with an Annual production of 131.76
Million nut. During this year, on the eve of World Tourism Day, the
Department of Agriculture, A & N Administration in association
with NGO-Hand in Hand will celebrate Coconut Festival on 25th Sept
2022 with Tourism Department at Corbyn's Cove beach in Port Blair.
The main event will be held at Corbyn's Cove beach and celebration
will also be conducted in other rural areas like Shaheed Dweep and
Swaraj Dweep etc. To mark the day and to encourage and motivate the
coconut growers various events like competition on Coconut based
recipes, Sales-cum Exhibition of Value Added products of coconut,
climbing of coconut tree will be organized for individuals as well as for
Self-help Groups.
