2. The Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) reiterated its
zero tolerance to doping and vowed to investigate the
cases of three Chinese weightlifters after they were
stripped of gold medals won during 2008 Olympic Games.
On Thursday, it was announced by the International
Olympic Committee (IOC) that three female Chinese
Olympic weightlifting gold medalists Cao Lei (75
kilograms), Chen Xiexia (48 kilograms) and Liu Chunhong
(69 kilograms) were among five other athletes who
competed at 2008 and 2012 Summer Games.
3. The three Olympic weightlifters all tested positive for
prohibited substance Growth hormone-releasing
peptide 2 and metabolite (GHRP-2 M2) after re-
analysis of their samples from Beijing 2008. Liu also
tested positive for Sibutramine. The disqualification
leaves China facing a potential ban on weightlifting
from international competitions for a period of one
year.
