Removal Procedure
Start By:
A. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic
System Pressure - Release".

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the
engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is
not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.
Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and
the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil
filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool
enough to touch with your bare hand.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop
Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube
assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps
to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

1. If equipped, remove cable strap (2) and disconnect harness assembly (1) .

2. If equipped, remove bolts (4), bracket (3) and the harness assembly.
3. Use Tooling (A) to remove the retaining ring. Remove pin assembly (5) .

4. Loosen bolts (7). Disconnect hose assemblies (6) .
5. Remove bolts (8) .
6. Repeat Steps 3, 4, and 5 for the other side.
7. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to lift arms (9). The approximate weight of
lift arms (9) is 368 kg (812 lb).

8. Remove bolts (10) .
9. Remove bolt (12). Remove pin assembly (11) .
10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for the other side.

11. Raise the lift arms. Remove bolt (15). Remove washer (16). Lower the lift arms. Remove
bolt (14). Remove pin assembly (13) from the link assembly.
12. Repeat Step 11 for the other side.
13. Remove lift arms (9). The weight of lift arms (9) is approximately 368 kg (812 lb).
14. Remove washer (17) .

1. Install washer (17) .
3. Position lift arms (9). The weight of lift arms (9) is approximately 368 kg (812 lb).
4. Install pin assembly (13) into the link assembly. Install bolt (14). Install washer (16). Install
bolt (15). Lower the lift arms.

6. Lower the lift arms. Install pin assembly (11). Install bolt (12) .
7. Install bolts (10) .

9. Remove Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device from lifting arms (9) .
10. Install bolts (8) .
11. Connect hose assemblies (6). Tighten bolts (7) .

13. Install pin assembly (5). Use Tooling (A) to install the retaining ring.
15. If equipped, install bracket (3) and the harness assembly. Install bolts (4) .

16. If equipped, connect the harness assembly (1) and install cable strap (2) .
17. Check the hydraulic oil level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic
System Oil Level - Check".

A. Remove the joystick control and mounting. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pilot
Operated Hydraulic Control - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior
of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the
internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform
disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all
times.
1. Remove boot (1) .
Observe the handle's orientation for assembly purposes.
2. Use Tooling (A) to remove roll pin. Remove handle assembly (2) .

Observe the lever's orientation for assembly purposes. Observe the interlock solenoid's orientation for
assembly purposes.
3. Loosen nut (6). Remove lever (7). Remove nut (5). Remove washer (4). Remove monocam
(3) .
4. Remove bolt (8). Remove coil assembly (9) .

5. Remove six fittings (10). Remove solenoid (11).
6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the opposite side.
