Associate Degree Requirements   Quoted from Laney College Catalog:   Candidates for the Associate Degree must complete at least  60 degree applicable units , which include courses in a major, General Education, and electives, as necessary. At least  19 units  must be completed in  General Education   … A minimum number of  18 units  required for  the major .  The specific number of units varies with the major.  Students should refer to the individual curriculum patterns for this information. NOTE:  When the units from the General Education and major do not total 60 units, students must complete any degree-applicable course(s), referred to as  electives , until the total of at least 60 units is obtained. At least 12 units must be taken at Laney College.
Math Courses These can be used toward the 60  Associate Degree Applicable units Any of these meets  area 4b (math)  of the  General Education  requirement Students who start in Fall 2009 or later: Elementary Algebra  cannot  be used to meet the general education requirement in mathematics for the Associate Degree !!! Instead,  Intermediate Algebra  or  Geometry  will become the minimum math requirement for the Associate Degree!!!! How a “Lab Course” Works Work on  homework  assignments on your own. Visit the Math Lab to work with a  tutor  when needed. Take a sequence of paper and pencil  quizzes/tests/exams  at the Math Lab to progress through the course.
Math Resources on Campus The Math Lab The best place on campus to get help for math!!! Offers free  drop-in  tutoring. The Tutorial Center In the Library on the 4th floor. Offers free tutoring  by appointment . Study Groups (Group Tutoring) Led by experienced tutors from the Math Lab.
Project Bridge Project Bridge is a basic skills learning community at Laney College.  Project Bridge is a supportive program for students who want to build skills and confidence. Day Bridge  offers afternoon classes in Mathematics, Reading, Writing,  Computer Science, Ethnic Studies, Sociology, and Career Preparation. Night Bridge  offers a Mathematics class and a Writing class. Project Bridge has a counselor, as well as tutors available before, during, and after class.
