21. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . Through investigating the Christian communities in my local area, I am discovering how Christian communities demonstrate their beliefs through prayer, worship and special ceremonies. I am developing respect for the practices and traditions of others. RME 1-03a had a wedding with a real minister.
22. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . Through discovery and imagination, I can develop and use problem-solving strategies to construct models. TCH 1-14a / TCH 2-14a made a house out of sweets.
23. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . Through exploring properties and sources of materials, I can choose appropriate materials to solve practical challenges. SCN 1-15a made paper out of real wood.
24. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . Through contributing my views, time and talents, I play a part in bringing about positive change in my school and wider community. HWB 1-13a had Kym teach us how to make thumb pots. Mrs Stratton
25. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . I can respond to the work of artists and designers by discussing my thoughts and feelings. I can give and accept constructive comment on my own and othersβ work. EXA 1-07a had Samβs dad demonstrate how he makes his sculptures.
26. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . I have experimented with everyday items as units of measure to investigate and compare sizes and amounts in my environment, sharing my findings with others. MNU 0-11a explored heavier and lighter at the park.
27. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . I have developed an awareness of where grid reference systems are used in everyday contexts and can use them to locate and describe position. MTH 1-18a got lost in the wilderness and used our mapping skills to get home.
28. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have. . . I can tell the time using 12 hour clocks, realising there is a link with 24 hour notation, explain how it impacts on my daily routine and ensure that I am organised and ready for events throughout my day. MNU 1-10a made real teaching clocks so we could practise telling the time at home.
29. If we didnβt learn this way we would never have . . . I can compare and contrast a society in the past with my own and contribute to a discussion of the similarities and differences. SOC 2-04a made a blackhouse in the classroom (because we couldnβt get to the blackhouse museum).

ALL
Mrs Stratton explain
Orla explain: We start a topic with a thinking box. We add things to the box that will help us learn about that topic. We also invite in experts on that topic. This helps us think about what we have to help us learn and what we might want to find out about.
Ellen: We take home a sheet to our parents and write down ideas of things we might want to do or investigate. We add them to the thinking box.
Kym: We brainstorm questions that we want answered and identify things that we want to do.
John: We pick out the questions and activities that would help us improve our learning.
ALL: These goals become our forward plan.
Orla: We revisit these goals throughout the topic. We can highlight the ones that we have achieved. We can add notes to remind us of what we have learned.
ALL
