Howard Macpherson has a deep love of visiting national trust properties, which are historical sites and green spaces that are preserved for the benefit of the public. One such site that is great for visiting is Bodiam Castle. This 14th century moated castle has a ruined interior, but still gives glimpses of medieval magnificence. Its staircases are spiraled, leading up to battlements where archers and warriors once stood. Real knights once walked about the lookout towers, and patrons can retrace their footsteps. The castle even has its original wooden portcullis, which is highly unusual.
