5. QUARANTINE ACT
Every traveller, while entering and
leaving the country must present
themselves to a screening officer. The
screening officer or any person
authorized by the Minister of Health,
has the authority to use any screening
technology that does not enter the
body of the traveller, to determine
whether the person has a
communicable disease or its
symptoms. The definition of traveller
includes citizens, permanent residents
and foreign nationals. (s. 14 (1))

6. QUARANTINE ACT
The screening officer has the
power to isolate a person or
group of persons who are
likely to have a
communicable disease until
they are assessed by a
quarantine officer . If a
person refuses to be isolated,
a peace officer has the power
to arrest them without a
warrant. (s.15 (2) and s.16 (2))

As of March 18, 2020, all foreign nationals except coming from from the US are banned from Canad
(does not apply to air crews, travelers in transit to a third country, Canadian permanent residents,
diplomats or immediate family members of Canadian citizens).
Canada-US border closed to all but essential travel exemption for trade ( goods, food)
14 day self isolation advisory for ALL international travelers.
Redirect international passenger flight arrivals to four airports:
o Vancouver International Airport
o Toronto-Pearson International Airport
o Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport
o Calgary International Airport

Disruptions include the following:
visa application centre closures
service disruptions at Canadian visa offices
travel plan disruptions
limited access to local government offices and businesses
limited access to a panel physician who can do the immigration medical exam
