Dr.Gopinath is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from GITAM University, Visakhapatnam and did his Masters (Machine Design), PhD (Computer Aided Design) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Also have an additional degree MBA (Education Management) from KSBM, Mumbai. He started his career as an associate lecturer in Govt. Polytechnic then moved to GITAM and held several positions in his 13 years long innings. Before taking over as Principal of GIET, Bhubaneswar he worked for a period of seven years as Principal of BITS, Vizag, Chaitanya Engineering College, Visakhapatnam, JITM, Paralakhemundi and MITS, Rayagada in Orissa
