1. Italian Sauces

a delicious meal a perfect one. At Gianni’s Pizzeria in NJ, we have a menu full of exquisite
sauces to complete your dish. We prepare the most delicious and traditional Italian food in the
area complete with our homemade sauces. As we have followed in the footsteps, Italians have
developed their own list of sauces to complete everything from seafood to pasta. Curious what

Pomodoro—Translated to “golden apple” this is a basic tomato sauce. It got its name as
the first tomatoes to arrive to Italy were yellow!
Carbonara—This sauce is typically made with eggs, cream, Parmesan cheese and bits of
bacon. Sometimes it is accompanied with green pees before it is poured over hot pasta.
Marinara—This classic Italian tomato sauce is typically seasoned with onions, garlic
and oregano. Marinara is popular on pizza, pasta and meat dishes.
Alfredo—Rich with heavy cream, butter, freshly grated Parmesan cheese and freshly
ground black pepper, this sauce is usually a topping for fettuccine.
Bolognese—This meat sauce is hearty with ground beef or pork, pancetta, tomatoes,
onions, garlic, carrots and celery.
Vodka—This sauce is simple and tasty, made with tomato sauce, vodka and heavy
cooking cream. It is usually added to penne pasta or rigatoni.
Pesto—Green in color, pesto sauce is a blended mixture of fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic,
Parmesan cheese and olive oil.
Marsala—This is a common wine-based pasta sauce that uses Marsala, a sweet Spanish
wine combined with rich ingredients like heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.
Puttanesca—Very fragrant, this sauce combines tomatoes, onions, black olives,
anchovies, capers, garlic and oregano, simmered with olive oil.
Aglio e Olio—A simple fresh garlic and olive oil sauce is a delicious accompaniment to
any delicious pasta.
