1.2 Presentación del Curso
Tomando como directriz el proyecto Bogotá Bilingüe, el cual tiene como objetivo
que los ciudadanos colombianos sean capaces de comunicarse en Inglés
utilizando estándares internacionalmente comparables (MCE), la Fundación
Universitaria Panamericana brinda a sus estudiantes cursos de inglés que les
permitan afrontar las exigencias del proceso de globalización y que a la vez les
dé acceso a oportunidades laborales y educativas, que les permita comprender e
interpretar su realidad y que finalmente colaboren con el mejoramiento de su
calidad de vida.
Actualmente, el aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa, no sólo es una materia
obligatoria en el plan de estudios, sino también es parte de las competencias
laborales que exige nuestra sociedad. El departamento de Inglés, se esfuerza día
tras día en formar personas competentes en el manejo del idioma inglés en
función de las diferentes habilidades comunicativas (speaking, writing, listening y
reading) además de la comprensión y uso adecuado del vocabulario y las
funciones gramaticales.
Es de gran importancia crear una conciencia cultural que permita a nuestros
estudiantes desempeñarse en diferentes áreas del conocimiento y que por
consiguiente se establezcan relaciones concretas entre el manejo de la lengua
inglesa y el campo de acción que envuelve a cada una de las carreras.
En esta asignatura, está implícito el desarrollo de las habilidades comunicativas
con énfasis en habla y escucha que son fundamentales para el proceso de
educación continua y lineal del área de inglés. Lo anterior, se define en el
programa para el nivel Básico I, que antecede al siguiente nivel II, pues éstos
están sistemáticamente conectados de tal manera que cada uno es complemento
del otro.
1.3 Competencias Generales
Competencia Comunicativa
Competencia Lingüística:
• Conoce los recursos formales de la lengua como sistema y los utiliza en la
formulación de mensajes significativos en diversas situaciones comunicativas.
Competencia Pragmática:
• Organiza oraciones en secuencias para producir fragmentos textuales.

Competencia Sociolingüística:
• Conoce las condiciones sociales y culturales que están implícitas en el uso de la
lengua
1.4 Estructura del Curso
Atendiendo a los desafíos que se han planteado para la educación superior, en
donde las nuevas tecnologías de información son fundamentales para el
fortalecimiento del aprendizaje autónomo, la Fundación Universitaria
Panamericana implementa el aprendizaje asistido por tecnologías de la
información también llamado enseñanza virtual (conocido como E- LEARNING)
como una manera sencilla y práctica de apropiar nuevos conocimientos a través
del uso de tecnologías actuales de información y comunicación.
Actualmente los Niveles I y II de inglés se apoya con el programa “English no
Limits” ofrecido por CAE Computer Aided Education que brinda “un aprendizaje
de inglés más pausado donde el alumno aprende a base de ejercicios, frases con
soporte visual y ejercicios; estas características favorecen que el usuario aprenda
de forma natural y contextual”. Teniendo como base este programa el estudiante
desarrollará el 20% del curso por medio de este software disponible en las aulas
digitales de la institución y el otro 80% actividades complementarias.
