1. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (47). Install the bearing cup in the housing. Use
Tooling (D) to install seal (46) (not shown) in the housing.
2. Install bearing (45). Install bearings (43) and screws (44). Tighten screws (44) to a torque of
4 ± 0.4 N·m (35 ± 4 lb in).

3. Install swashplate (42) in the housing.
4. Install shaft (41) .

5. Install the following components in barrel (34) : inner spring guide (37), spring (38) and
outer spring guide (39). Position barrel (34) in the press. Use Tooling (C) in order to install
retaining ring (40) .
6. Install pistons (35) in retaining plate (36) .
7. Install barrel (34) on pistons (35) .

8. Install a rubber band around the pistons, as shown. Install rotating group (33) in the housing.
9. Install four plates (31) and bolts (32). Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to bolts (32).
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 34 ± 3 N·m (25 ± 2 lb ft). Install shim (30) .

10. Install cover (29) and bolts (28). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 8.5 ± 1 N·m (75 ± 9 lb in).
11. Install plug (27). Tighten the plug to a torque of 102 ± 4 N·m (75 ± 3 lb ft).
12. Install the following components in housing (26) : the spring, piston (25), plate (23) and
bearing (24). Install gasket (22) on the housing.

13. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (21). Install the bearing cup in the head. If the pistons
were removed, install piston (19) and piston (20) .
14. Install head (18) on the pump. Install bolt (17). Tighten bolt (17) to a torque of 91 ± 4 N·m
(67 ± 3 lb ft). Install bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 91 ± 4 N·m (67 ± 3 lb ft).

15. Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install retaining ring (15) .
16. Install spring guide (12), spring (13), and spring guide (14) .
17. Install spring guide (8), spring (9), pin (10), and spring guide (11) .
18. Install plugs (7) in the pressure and flow compensator valve. Tighten the plugs to a torque
of 79 ± 4 N·m (58 ± 3 lb ft).

19. Install valve spools (6) in the pressure and flow compensator valve.
20. Install plugs (5) in the pressure and flow compensator valve. Tighten the plugs to a torque
of 30.5 ± 1.5 N·m (22.0 ± 1.0 lb ft).

21. Install plug (4) in the pressure and flow compensator valve. Tighten the plug to a torque of
30.5 ± 1.5 N·m (22.5 ± 1.0 lb ft).
22. Install O-ring seals (3) in the bottom of the pressure and flow compensator valve.
23. Install pressure and flow compensator valve (2) and bolts (1) on the pump. Tighten the bolts
to a torque of 34 ± 3 N·m (25 ± 2 lb ft).
End By: Install the implement pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Implement Pump -
Install" in this module.

1. Attach Tooling (A) to the roof of the cab. Use a strap in order to attach Tooling (A) to
implement pump (4). Install implement pump (4). The implement pump weighs
approximately 22 kg (48.5 lb). Install two mounting bolts (not shown).

2. Connect hose assemblies (1), (2), and (3) .
3. Fill the hydraulic tank.
Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and
Refill Capacities" for your machine.
4. Install the floorplate.

Hydraulic Control Linkage - Remove and Install
SMCS - 5051
Removal Procedure
1. Remove handle (1) and boot (2) from the control lever. Remove bolts (4), the washers, and
armrest (3) .

2. Remove screws (5) and plate (6). Remove button (7) and cover (8). Disconnect the electrical
connectors behind the lighter.
3. Remove screws (9) and the washers. Remove locknut (10) from horn switch (11). Remove
panel (12) .

4. Remove nuts (13). Disconnect rod (14) and rod (17) from the control linkage. Remove bolts
(15) and the washers from channel assembly (18). Cut the cable tie that holds wire harness
(19) to channel assembly (18). Remove channel assembly (18) with the hydraulic control
linkage from the machine.
Installation Procedure

1. Install channel assembly (18) with hydraulic control linkage (16) to the machine. Install the
cable ties that secure wiring harness (19) to channel assembly (18). Install bolts (15) and the
washers to channel assembly (18). Connect rod (14) and rod (17) to the hydraulic control
linkage. Install nuts (13) to the hydraulic control linkage.
2. Install panel (12). Install horn switch (11) and locknut (10). Install screws (9) and the
washers.

3. Connect the electrical connectors to the rear of the lighter. Install cover (8) and button (7).
Install plate (6) and screws (5) .
4. Install armrest (3), bolts (4), and the washers. Install boot (2) and handle (1) to the control
lever.

Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove
SMCS - 5051-011
Removal Procedure
Start By:
A. Remove the seat. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Seat - Remove and Install" in this
module.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil
or components to contact skin.
Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap
is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap
slowly in order to relieve pressure.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop
Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Mark all fittings, hoses, wires, and tubes for identification purposes. Plug all fittings, hoses,
and tubes in order to prevent foreign material from entering the system.
Note: Drain all the fluids into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.
Note: The hydraulic tank has been removed for photographic purposes.
1. Remove handle (1) and boot (2) from the control lever. Remove bolts (4), the washers, and
armrest (3) .

2. Remove screws (5) and plate (6). Remove button (7) and cover (8). Disconnect electrical
connectors (X) (not shown) behind the lighter.
3. Remove screws (9) and the washers. Remove locknut (10) from horn switch (11). Remove
panel (12) .

4. Remove nuts (13). Disconnect rod (14) and rod (17) from the control linkage. Remove bolts
(15) and the washers from channel assembly (18). Remove channel assembly (18) with the
hydraulic control linkage from the machine.
5. Remove two cotters and pins (19) that connect control valve (20) to bellcranks (21) .
6. Disconnect hose assembly (22) from control valve (20) .

7. Disconnect four hose assemblies (23) from the side of the control valve. Disconnect two
tube assemblies (24) at both ends. Reposition the tubes out of the way.
8. Remove bolts (25). Raise the hydraulic control valve until bolts (26) can be reached.
Remove bolts (26). Then, the mounting bracket is in the correct location.

9. Attach a strap to control valve (20). Secure the strap to a hoist or to another suitable lifting
device.
10. Remove bolts (28) that hold the control valve to bracket (27). Remove the control valve
from the machine.
