Shearing Sheds

Shearing sheds are used for shearing large numbers of
sheep and it is also for storing your sheep in because if you
leave them outside and it rains their wool will get all wet and
you wont be able to sell the wool.

Shearing sheds have rooms to keep their sheep in on either
side and in between the to sides there is a hallway where
the sheep are sheared. They are usually made out of metal
or wood and are around the size of two school halls.

The shearing sheds have columns which the sheep live
in and in the middle is where they get sheared and get their
wool taken.

The original shear shed was built in the 1840’s. Also in Aus-
tralia people used to wash their sheep in a creeks before
shearing their sheep because they wanted clean wool
but it sometimes destroyed the wool.
