Personal About Politics: Ms. America
1. Personal About Politics: Ms. America
Ms. America
A strong, proud woman
Brought to her knees
By eight long years
Of self-serving greed.
Bowing under the weight
Of a warrant-less war
Bringing death and destruction
To our door.
Please, she pleads,
"Do not torture!
It only serves to hurt me more."
Suffering from self-inflicted wounds,
She hangs her head in pain shame.
The world now views us with distain
Our enemies many....
Few allies remain
With a heavy sigh she asks,
"What happened?
How did we go so wrong?"
2. Our moral compass
Has gone awry
The scales of justice
Tarnished and tossed aside
Pulling the cloak of .com the Constitution close
Though ripped and torn
Battered and worn,
Gazing sadly through eyes filled with tears
She still holds it tight,
It has served her well these many years.
We are a nation of might
But, our strength is in our compassion.
It's time, she says, to set things right
For now there is hope on the horizon.
Bring back my pride she implores
Let me lift my head high
And as she reaches out, she cries,
"Help me! Lift me up!
Together...
3. We can be so much better!"
