5. MEET CONDITIONS & INFORMATION
The 2012 Auckland Junior Invitational incorporating the Auckland Junior
Championships is conducted under SNZ and ASA Rules and any local Meet
conditions listed in this poster and in the programme. Any variation to local
conditions will be published on the ASA website no later than 19th November 2012.
ENTRIES:
Closing Date: Closing date Monday 12th November 2012 at midnight (with the
allowance for updated times by noon, 19th November 2012).
Late Entries: Late entries close with the Meet Controller Friday 23rd November 2012 at
12.00 noon. In accordance with Rule 2.6.3(e), all late entries subsequent
to this are at the discretion of the Meet Director. LATE ENTRIES WILL
ONLY BE ACCEPTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF
THIS POSTER AND ASA RULE R2.6.3. The fee for a late entry in
accordance with R2.6.4 shall be $50 per entry. No late entries will be
accepted in the Control Room without payment of the correct fee.
Electronic Entries: For Clubs with Team Manager Software, entries to be emailed to
info@akswim.co.nz with Proof of Times Report attached. All other
entries to be on ASA Entry Form.
Entry Fees: $9.30 per entry incl. GST. Relay entries $20.50 per team entry incl. GST.
Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by full payment. One
club cheque please, made payable to ‘Auckland Swimming Association’,
with Fee Report attached. Send to: Auckland Swimming Association, PO

Entry Times: Age as at 23rd November 2012. Swimmers to contest their own age
group.
No converted times – entries to be actual time swum. All heats will be
swum fastest to slowest (Long Course times followed by Short Course
times).
Events 39 & 40 (Boys/Girls 12/under 400IM) will be restricted to the top 16
entry times only.
All entry times must be achieved within the qualifying period (25th
November 2011 until event swum at the Auckland Junior Invitational Meet
2012) to enter. Proof of Times Report must be forwarded with electronic
entries. Entry times must be listed on SNZ or ASA database.
Non-Qualifying Times: Will only be accepted when the entry is accompanied by a $25.00 bond.
This bond is refundable following the meet if the swimmer achieves the
entry time or better during the meet. No NQTs will be accepted for the

6. Mid-Distance Events (400 Free, 400 IM). Any NQTs must also have been
achieved within the qualifying period and must have accompanying Proof
of Times Report.
Qualifying Period: 25th November 2011 until event swum at the Auckland Junior Invitational
Meet.
Withdrawals: NO REFUNDS for Withdrawals.
All withdrawals for Session 2 are to be received at the Auckland
Swimming office by noon Thursday 22nd November 2012. Withdrawals
for Sessions 3 - 6 must be into the AOD control room within 15 minutes of
the end of the preceding session.
Timed Finals: Except as otherwise noted, all events are timed finals.
Relays: The Auckland Junior Invitational includes 4 x 50 Free and Medley relays
(male and female) in each age group.
Relay entries will be accepted from combined club teams where the
combined clubs are each ‘smaller clubs’ and where a smaller club is
understood to be one with 40 or fewer total competitive swimmers. All
relay teams may include un-qualified registered swimmers. Any
dispensation to the small club rule will be at the discretion of the Auckland
Selectors.
Relay results will contribute to club points for this meet, but not to
championship points for Auckland Trophies.
The entry fee per relay will be $20.50 (incl GST).
Session 1: Session 1 of the Auckland Junior Invitational will be swum under the rules
of the Auckland Swimming League and will be open to the first 16 ‘league
style’ teams entered.
Each team will comprise a maximum of 24 swimmers who will swim in an
inter-team league competition.
Protests: Protests must be lodged in accordance with SNZ Regulation 4.
Starts: ‘Over the Top’ starts and the FINA One Start Rule (SW 4.4) will apply.
Results: These will be placed downstairs on the wall by the entrance and upstairs
on the walkway at the back of the dive well. Subject to technical capacity,
‘Live Results’ will be operating during the course of the meet.
Reseeding: All heats are scratch seeded. Heats may be reseeded at the Session
Referee’s discretion.
Marshalling: Swimmers are to report to the marshalling area 6 races before their race.

7. Poolside Officials: Auckland Swimming will endeavour to obtain the necessary number of
officials but the number on poolside may be more or less than the
requirement set out in SNZ rules.
Clubs are to supply: Officials and workers as requested.
Pool Deck Passes: All swimmers, coaches, managers and pool side officials must display an
ASA identity card. No access to the poolside area will be permitted
without a valid ASA pass.
MEDALS
Championship Medals: These will be awarded to the top three Auckland place getters in each
event (exceptions noted below), including relays, by the following age
groups:
9/Under
10 years
11 years
12 years
A maximum of two Visitor Medals will be awarded in each event by age
group to Visitors placed in the top three by age group.
Exceptions: Events 1 & 2 (400 Free) and Events 39 & 40 (400 IM) are
designated 12 & under events. Only one set of medals (plus Visitor
Medals as appropriate) will be issued.
Relay Medals: Relay Events 15 – 30 are non-championship events. Medals are awarded
to the top three placed teams in each event.
Medal Presentations: There will be no medal presentations. Medals should be collected by
Team Managers from the club pigeon-holes outside the Admin Room.
Club Points: Club points for the Hallyburton Johnson Shield1 will be:
Age Group events 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (top 8)
Club points for the Aunty Johnson Trophy2 will be:
Age Group events 5, 3, 1
All participants must agree to comply with the Sports Anti-Doping Rules

Presented for competition amongst clubs. From 1996 the Hallyburton Johnson Shield is awarded to the club gaining the highest
aggregate points in every final or the top 8 in events declared on times e.g. 400m, 800m, 1500m in both Age-Group (including Juniors) and
Open Age events (including visitors). Should the Shield be won by a visiting club, it is to remain in Auckland.
