3. 1.0 Introduction
A company that sells unique and self crafted bouquets of flowers that are made from
recycled goods. Our products are made solely with recycled paper that is obtained from
hand me down books, old newspaper and other thrown reading materials that would have
become general waste if it was not repurposed. The bouquet comes with different types of
flowers such as roses and tulips in a variety of colours and designs. All the products sold by
us coincide with our motto which is Made From Scratch, as for our company’s vision it is to
reduce waste and repurpose it into something of a much greater value and use.
The flower bouquet of ours is made from recycled paper by using our very own creativity.
There are a couple of options available for our customers to choose from. Some of these
flowers include tulips, roses and even the lotus. There will also be additional accessories
that are added to the bouquet of flowers, such as fairy lights, glossy wrapping paper and
beads. The flowers are even scented to provide a better experience for our customers. Aside
from that our customers are also able to pick their own paper flowers to be used in their
bouquet of flowers.
Our company joined a carnival that was held on the 2nd of June 2023 at Anjung Sekolah
Perniagaan dan Ekonomi. Our sales began at 8.00 a.m and ended at 12.00 p.m. During this
carnival we were able to witness other companies who also attended and had brought their
own products to be sold at different booths. It was indeed an eye opening experience to see
many other young entrepreneurs like ourselves. At the same time, our very own company
managed to completely sell all the products that we had crafted prior to the event. Many
customers provided us with positive feedback rewarding our products sold and also some
ways to attract possibly even more customers.

9. 4.0 Lesson Learnt During Carnival
Lesson 1: We learnt we must know how to estimate the amount of products that are
enough to meet the customer’s demand
During the carnival, the amount of prepared bouquet flowers that we made were not enough
to meet the demand of the customers. The quantity of our customers were more than our
expectations thus making our flower bouquet keep being requested by the participants of the
carnival. This required us to do the flower bouquet on the spot on the day of the event which
was kinda hectic. Through that situation, we learnt the importance of preparing an adequate
quantity of products that want to be sold.
Lesson 2: We learnt that group work is a very important aspect to create a successful
business.
During the entire process of doing the flower bouquet, we realised that teamwork is very
crucial in ensuring the success of a business. It is because the process of making our flower
bouquets was quite hard and detailed, so the cooperation of all members was needed. We
have divided several tasks for each member and it helped to make everything smoother.
Lesson 3: We learnt that promotion of products are important
During the carnival, there were so many people and it was so packed. However, the location
of our booth that was not really strategic made it harder to attract customers. So, in order to
tackle that problem, some of our members take the flower bouquet with them and promote
them by walking around the carnival. These ideas showed positive feedback when more
customers came on that day.
Lesson 4: We learnt that it is very important to be tolerate in business
During the carnival, we were only prepared with 2 tables for 3 teams to sell all the products.
It was quite challenging since the space provided was too small and not enough for us to
display our products. However, all of us were not selfish and were able to share the space
together. Everything went smooth even though the weather was so hot due to the tolerance
that we showed each other.
Lesson 5: We learnt that we should not set a limitation for ourselves in business
Before the carnival started, we had a negative thought on how our business will not go well
and felt worried if people would not buy our products. We realised that we have set a
limitation that should not be made in the first place because it will impact our judgement in
the business world. However, things turned out great since there were so many people that
were interested in our products. Most of them bought our flower bouquet to give to their
loved one. This taught us to become more ambitious in this business world.
Lesson 6: We learnt that communication is very important in business
From dealing with customers to having discussions with groupmates, we realised that it is
very important to be skillful in communication. Everyone must participate in discussions,
address their concern, state their agreement or disagreement and involve themselves in
brainstorming ideas. If no one in the group possessed this quality, the leader tends to seize
control of the group’s direction.

10. 5.0 Challenges and Recommendation
Challenge 1: Lack of experience
We do not have enough exposure or knowledge about running a business due to the fact we
are students and have not had the opportunity to work in a real-world business setting. We
struggled with how to conduct our business because there was no clear framework in place.
Most of us find it challenging to make critical business judgments because we lack the
confidence to analyse risks, make strategic decisions, or recognise opportunities.
Recommendation 1
To compensate for our lack of expertise, we should seek advice and guidance from lecturers
or seniors to learn from the experience of others. We must acquire the necessary
experience to successfully run our business. Also, we should learn about business principles
through any courses or seminars.
Challenge 2 : Time management
We as beginners need to confront the difficulty of juggling several duties such as product
creation, marketing, financial management and many more. It can be difficult and perplexing
for us to handle all these obligations at once, especially when we are still getting the hang of
each one.
Recommendation 2
We must identify and prioritise the most important and urgent task first. Then, we should
plan and schedule our day so that we can devote particular time to each task. We also
should set attainable objectives and divide them into smaller segments to monitor the
business progress.
Challenge 3 : Fragility of the product
Since the flowers are made from paper, they are very susceptible to accidental tears and
crumbling. Furthermore, the flowers are handcrafted. We could not ensure that every flower
is in perfect condition. Nevertheless, in the later phase of producing the flowers, we could
see that the quality of the flowers have been gradually increasing and becoming more
stable. At last, we still managed to produce paper flowers which were pleasant to our
customers’ eyes. Hence we got a decent profit from this business.
Recommendation 3
We must make sure that the quality of the papers are good, as in thickness and flexibility
and such, before we even start to proceed to folding it. In other words, this issue could be
resolved by deliberately analysing the quality of the paper by feeling the texture of the paper.
Experience is the key to producing the utmost quality of the product. The more we put this to
practise, the more we consolidate our knowledge in this matter and eventually produce high
quality paper flowers.
Challenge 4 : Manpower shortage
Our group only consists of 11 members. The fact that we have to make the flower by hand
and with the targeted amount of the products is, honestly, quite burdening. On the other
hand every one of us has a hectic and packed schedule throughout the day. Undeniably, this
10

11. is one of the main factors that caused our production efficiency to have a very low starting
point. Not to mention the extra time and effort needed to get through the learning curve.
Fortunately, we managed to reach the target we set beforehand because everyone was
giving their best to make this happen.
Recommendation 4
We should have more members in each group to increase the manpower. On the other
hand, we could also start the production as soon as the plan has come up so that we could
have sufficient time to produce high quality products.
Challenge 5 : Lack sense of responsibility in group members
Some of us have a really little sense of responsibility to carry out this business. The rest of
the group members had to deal with a bigger burden when some of us refused to cooperate.
Recommendation 5:
Open communication is really important when dealing with this issue. Leaders can initiate a
conversation with group members in question to understand their concerns and reasons for
their lack of cooperation. Simple team building activities can also be done to resolve this
issue. Members of the group will interact more and understand deeper of their role in the
group.
