Your patient has a hopeless #12 tooth that she has been avoiding treatment for because of fear, time, inconvenience and the unknown result. She knows that she is on borrowed time. She has been educated by you of the implant option and comes to our office which she finds has a friendly atmosphere and professional protocols. The ct scan is taken for the very reasonable fee that she knows about and the doctor has joined her. All of this occurs in a few minutes.
The scan is e-mailed to you. It is apparent that a great deal of bone is available for a substantial implant with excellent fixation. The decision is made to extract the tooth with degranulation and detoxification. The same procedure will incorporate placing the implant, a temporary abutment and a provisional to preserve the site for you without compromise.
The implant is placed after extraction procedures and a 4.3X16 mm implant is placed with residual space grafted with autogenous bone. The temporary abutment is placed and a provisional is placed into immediate function. By making the provisional during surgery we have created the “ideal healing abutment” for your patient. You may soon feel that you would like to perform all of these procedures using us only for a scan and collaborative discussion about the case.
The patient returns to our office for her final visit 6 days later. She reports that she did not have discomfort at all. We make an appointment with your office for a transfer impression and shade eleven weeks later so that laboratory time is incorporated into the total necessary healing time.
