Matthew 15:2, Wash Their Hands
• Matthew 15:2 "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of
the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat
bread.”
• Mark 7:3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat
unless they carefully wash their hands…
• Utensil Safety “I accompanied my four-year-old, Matt, to a
pre-kindergarten screening session where they tested his
hearing, eyesight, speech, and motor skills. The last stop
was with the school nurse who emphasized the importance
of washing hands before meals. "Germs from our hands can
get on our food while eating," she explained.
• "Oh, I don't need to worry about that," Matt assured her.

Matthew 15:2, Wash Their Hands
• CSB Leviticus 15:11 If the man with the discharge touches
anyone without first rinsing his hands in water, the person
who was touched is to wash his clothes and bathe with
water, and he will remain unclean until evening.
• John 13:9 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, then wash not
only my feet, but also my hands and my head.“
• Exodus 30:20 when they enter the tent of meeting, they
shall wash with water, so that they will not die; or when
they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke
a fire sacrifice to the LORD.
• 85 X’s the Scripture say “wash”
• But this “ceremonial washing” is not in Scripture (Lev 22), it
is only in the Talmud and Mishna, yet their traditions had
superseded the Bible. The cults do it too.

Matthew 15:5, Given To God
• Matthew 15:5 "But you say, 'Whoever says to
his father or mother, "Whatever I have that
would help you has been given to God,"
• Mark 7:11 but you say, 'If a man says to his
father or his mother, whatever I have that
would help you is Corban (that is to say, given
to God),‘

Matthew 15:7=Isaiah 29:13
• Matthew 15:7…rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
• Isaiah 29:13 Then the Lord said, "Because this people
draw near with their words And honor Me with their
lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me,
And their reverence for Me consists of tradition
learned by rote [vs 3. your tradition] , 14 Therefore behold, I
will once again deal marvelously with this people,
wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise
men [vs 14. blind guides] will perish, And the discernment of
their discerning men will be concealed." 15 Woe to
those [vs 13. uprooted] who deeply hide their plans from the
LORD, And whose deeds are done in a dark place [Corban
was kept at home] , And they say, "Who sees us?" or "Who
knows us?"

Mat 15:9, Sound Doctrine Not Traditions
• Matthew 15:9 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,
TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'"
• Titus 2:1. . . speak the things which are fitting for
sound doctrine.
• We are commanded to have correct doctrine.
• The traditions of men are of no use, if not Biblical
• . . . we are no longer to be . . . carried about by every
wind of doctrine. Ephesians 4:14

Mat 15:9, Sound Doctrine Not Traditions
• [There are also] . . . doctrines of demons. 1 Timothy
4:1
• We are commanded to be "nourished on the words of
the faith and of the sound doctrine" (1 Timothy 4:6).
The only thing that does matter is whether or not it
agrees with Scripture. Is it of the Lord?
• If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not
agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to
godliness 1 Timothy 6:3

Your Behavior Should Offend No One,

• 1 Corinthians 10:28 But if anyone says to you, "This is meat
sacrificed to idols," do not eat it, for the sake of the one
who informed you, and for conscience' sake; 29 I mean not
your own conscience, but the other man's; for why is my
freedom judged by another's conscience? 30 If I partake
with thankfulness, why am I slandered concerning that for
which I give thanks? 31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or
whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no
offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God;
33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my
own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may be
saved.

that the ministry will not be discredited,

• We are saved by GRACE! Give others some space and grace.

• Interestingly, the Book of Acts actually numbers Jesus’ disciples in the immediate aftermath of His death, resurrection and ascension to heaven, stating, “the number of names together
were about an hundred and twenty.” (Acts 1:15)
• “We believe, we suggest, that this was a special community, not large, that put itself at the edge of the main Jewish village. This community wanted to make their religious house
different. They put money into it, into the decorations, into the special stone altar,” Gorni told Makler.
• “They may be connected to Jesus and Mary Magdalene. We know that Jesus was not involved in the main Jewish community and preferred to live aside. Perhaps he was the leader
around whom this synagogue was built.”
• The man who originally sought to build on the site is Father Juan Maria Solana, director of Jerusalem’s Pontifical Institute.
• Father Juan Maria Solana has been looking to build a hotel and worship center to host pilgrims in the ancient town of Magdala, Israel.
• “To be frank, I felt something about this place and this project, that it was impossible to explain,” Solana told Makler.
• Scripture never specifies Jesus going to Magdala, but Solana says the discovery of the synagogue suggests a re-examination may be in order.
• “From the Jewish point of view, the position is clear. It’s a first century synagogue, beautifully decorated, with pieces of art and an altar such has never been found in any other
synagogue from that time. Never, ever,” Solana said.
• “From the Christian point of view, we cannot doubt that Jesus would have been there sometime. The first Christian communities used to gather in the synagogues. They were observant

• THOUGHT FOR THE DAY God wants us to have correct doctrinal stances.
• MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY
• One of the most amazing statements Jesus made was that not everyone
who calls Him Lord, speaks in His name, performs miracles, etc., is going to
heaven. There will be multitudes that think they are going to heaven, but
Jesus will say to them on judgment day, "I never knew you, depart." The
difference between those that go to heaven and those that go to hell is
what they are believing or trusting in. Simply stated, their "doctrine." Just
because it's always done that way is not correct doctrine. In fact,
traditions are not worth much. Jesus said:
• In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. —
Matthew 15:9 In addition to traditions that are of no use, there are many
false doctrines in the world as well:
• . . . we are no longer to be . . . carried about by every wind of doctrine. —
Ephesians 4:14. . . doctrines of demons. —1 Timothy 4:1
• We are commanded to be "nourished on the words of the faith and of the
sound doctrine" (1 Timothy 4:6). So determining what is sound is one of
our charges as Christians. Opinions don't matter. What you feel doesn't
