Who makes the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker?
Masterbuilt started in the backyard of a welder named Dawson McLemore in 1973. The first thing he made was fern
stands out of steel. His son would stack them up in a wagon and sell them door to door their hometown of
Columbus, Georgia.
Later on, Dawson made a fish cooker for a friend. It turned out so well that he realized he could sell them. So he set
to work and designed a fish cooker along with a burner to heat it. Sales took off, and the business grew.
Dawson retired and turned the business over to his sons. Their product line expanded to include turkey fryers and
roasters, grills, smokers, and even some automotive products.
Masterbuilt Manufacturing, Inc. now sells products throughout the US and Canada, as well as other countries
