Guest Kingston had their way early
Thursday in Owendale, but couldn’t
contain high scoring Brett Stockton
during the middle 2 quarters, result-
ing in a 67-53 victory for the Owen-
Gage Bulldogs in a battle between
former North Central Thumb League
foes.
A balanced scoring attack that fea-
tured field goals from 5 different
Cardinals had the visitors enjoying a
double digit advantage in the early
going before Stockton heated up.
Trailing 14-5, Stockton netted a pair
of treys before the break to help nar-
row the gap to 30-25 at the halfway
point. Stockton scored 13 of his
game-high 32 points in the frame.
The high scoring senior was just
getting started. He poured in another
13 points in the third quarter, but it
was the Bulldog defense, which held
Kingston to just 6 tallies in the peri-
od, which was the main cog in estab-
lishing a 44-36 spread for the even-
tual winners with 8 minutes remain-
ing.
