1. The production of plastic bags requires petroleum
and often natural gas, both non-renewable resources
that can cost big production bucks over time.
In a landfill, plastic bags can take up to 1,000 years
to degrade. Plastic bags don’t biodegrade, they photo-
degrade, breaking down into smaller toxic pieces.
Thousands of marine animals die every year due to
plastic pollution, including over 1 million birds.
About 200 species of sea life die due to plastic
bags, including turtles, dolphins, whales, etc.
If you use cloth or recycled bags you can eliminate 6
plastic bags a week, 288 bags a year!
If 1 out of 5 people in the U.S used cloth bags, we
would eliminate 1,330,560,000,000 plastic bags over
the span of a life time.
