Carson Concrete built the 17-story Dockside Residences condominium in Philadelphia in 2002. The 242 unit luxury waterfront building resembles a docked ship overlooking the Delaware River. Carson Concrete constructed a post-tensioned concrete frame for the residential floors and a system of beams and post-tensioned slabs to support the parking decks, including a 370 space garage. A series of girders on the fourth floor transitions structural support between the residential and parking levels.
2. Introduction
Anthony Samango III possesses the experience
needed to guide Carson Concrete, one of the leaders
in Philadelphia's construction industry.Among the
company's most well-known projects is Dockside -
The Residences at Pier 30. Carson Concrete built a
concrete frame, which was completed in 2002.
Standing 17 stories, Dockside Residences is a luxury
condominium that overlooks the Delaware River. To
match its surroundings, the condo resembles a
docked ship. The property comprises 242 units and a
three-story parking garage able to accommodate 370
vehicles.
3. Underpinnings
Construction workers and engineers appreciate the
craftsmanship that went into building Dockside
Residences' framework. The concrete, flat-plate
system used to situate the residential floors is a post-
tensioned, cast-in-place structure. At the base, the
structural system used to support the parking decks is
composed of a system of beams and post-tensioned
slabs.
In the middle, the fourth floor serves as a sort of
keystone for the complex. A series of girders
transitions weight and support between the grid of
columns used to erect the residential levels and the
grid of columns found in the parking-deck levels.
