The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary en-
vironmental management instrument, which was developed in 1993
by the European Commission. It enables organizations to assess,
manage and continuously improve their environmental performan-
ce.
The establishments certified by the “Q for Quality” have passed
strict audits to ensure that their service delivers quality, safety and
professionalism. All this to assure customers the best possible tra-
vel experience.
It is a system of the Catalan Government to identify those products
and services that meet certain properties or characteristics that
make them more environmentally friendly. The use of the symbol is
restricted to those products and services that have been submitted
voluntarily by producers, traders and owners to check their establi-
shed system.
The International Organization for Standardization (known as ISO,
is an international standard-setting body composed of representa-
tives from various national standards organizations. Founded on 23
February 1947, the organization promotes worldwide proprietary,
industrial and commercial standards. It is headquartered in Gene-
va, Switzerland.

recognition of the quality of water and services that beaches offer
their users.
