7. St. Francis Paul
Church
The last Church raised in the
colonial period. From its
forecourt, there is a beautiful
view of the city.
8. Descending
through the
steep hill down
seems to be a
metaphorical
experience in
going down to
the depths of
Ouro Preto, to
its innermost
chambers that
hold its
deepest
secrets and
treasures…
10. Our Lady of Pilar Church
This is considered as one of the most
refined baroque architecture. It contains
magnificent cutting covered in gold and
more than 400 cherubims.
More than the structural beauty, each design
bears deep meaning and symbolisms.
12. Casa Dos Contos opened the
windows for me to see the
greater beauty of the glorious
tradition of Ouro Preto…
It allowed me to see the
mystic marvel of its history
and culture…
It made me appreciate more
the profound tradition of the
olden times…
It left me in awe and wonder.
15. Inconfidencia
Museum
Inauguarated in
1944, it displays
documents and
events that evoked
Inconfidencia
Mineira. It highlights
the tombstones of
the inconfidentes
and the first edition
of Marilia de Dirceu.
17. This is one of Brazil’s best architectural designs which was
constructed somewhen in 1766-1772 by Maoel Francisco
Lisboa. This Church is both magical and emblematic.
21. Farewell, Ouro Preto…
Thank you for bringing us back to the origins of
Minas Gerias. Every piece of history that is etched in the
pictures we took is truly a piece of gold…
Yours is a precious treasury of glorious past and
traditions that will surely last beyond time and
space…and we feel so blessed to be given an
opportunity to have a glimpse of it…
22. Farewell, Ouro Preto…
As darkness envelopes the
skies, the remembrance of Ouro Preto will
remain to sparkle like precious gold...
like the lamps that glitter along the road
going back to Belo Horizonte…
And forever, Ouro Preto will be
cherished as part of our splendid memory.
As I rest on my bed, images of Ouro
Preto contue to linger in my dreams...
