  2. 2. <ul><li>Mainly through the 6 th and 9 th centuries Irish monks and also scholars were the ones to preserve the traditions of the fallen Roman Empire. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Now a days Ireland has the highest percentage of regular church goers in Western Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>Most of the churches in Ireland are Catholic. </li></ul><ul><li>A huge percentage of Ireland's population is Roman Catholic, 92%. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>There is still many other religions in Ireland such as: Protestant which 3% of the population claim to be. The rest of the population either have no religious beliefs or are believers of Muslim, Jew, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Orthodox. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Most of Ireland has become Catholic along with the rest of Eastern Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>This has tremendously strengthened the Catholic Church. </li></ul><ul><li>Also after a decade of the church attendance going down, it has started to raise. Leaving Ireland as the highest attendance rate. </li></ul>

  8. 8. <ul><li>Ireland’s finest old churches is The Church of Ireland. </li></ul><ul><li>It was established and the only place of religion in Ireland in the 1700’s. </li></ul><ul><li>Sadly it is suffering a steady loss of membership. </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>In Ireland the catholic church has been the main provider of education. </li></ul><ul><li>Half of all the Irish attend the church mass every week. </li></ul><ul><li>The Catholic church has become less commanding. </li></ul>
