I am born in Lima, Peru. The grandson of a Sephardic Jew from Smyrna, Turkey. My other backgrounds are Peruvian, Spanish, German, Italian. My Jewish Background My grandfather was a Sephardic Jew from Izmir (Smyrna), Turkey. Until early 1900's, Turkey had a large Jewish community, resulting from the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. In the early 1900's my grandfather left for Alexandria Egypt, then lived in Abysinia Ethiopia, then Sicily Italy, and finally Lima Peru, where he married my German-immigrant grandmother.
