3. Thesis Statement
Domestic animals in the state of Pennsylvania are
protected not only by strict animal abuse laws, but also
by animal shelters and activist groups which make it
their job to care for animals who have been abused by
feeding, nurturing, providing medical care, and
finding new homes for them.
4. Animal Abuse:
The crime of inflicting physical, mental, and emotional pain or
death on an animal beyond normal discipline. It can include
neglect to an extent as to where the animal has suffered, died, or
been put in imminent danger of death.

Editor's Notes
if we respect life, we respect life regardless of where the animal is on the hierarchy of life. what makes one animals life more important than another? Doesn't every animal have emotions and feel pain? in addition all animals only have one life and once it is taken away it is gone forever.
physical: hitting, kicking the animal
mental: locking them in a basement, or locking them up in general
emotional: neglect if you don’t even acknowledge your pet that can be just as painful to them.‘
improper care can include everything down to just over feeding them and not keeping them at a healthy weight.
having to many pets can cause you to forget about one or again make it impossible to properly care for all of them equally.
people will take their anger out on animals rather then take it out on the person or situation they are mad at
people abuse animals rather because animals cannot speak up and humans can
they think its much easier to get away with abusing an animal then abusing a person
I adopted Madison from the Montgomery County SPCA, when I had brought her home she was very tiny usually after the adoption is completed you’re not able to bring your new pet home until after a week when they spay or neuter your animal for a small fee of 50$. In my situation I had to bring Madison home and bring her back in 3 weeks because of how small she was.
Sophie was so sick that when i brought her home i could not leave her side, i was told that she was going to die. Being diagnosed with feline pneumonia, she was very dehydrated and always had her mouth open to breath, i must have taken her to the vet over 5 times in 2 weeks, and each time they simply told me i just had to ride it out and hope for the best.
to pay little or no attention to, this dog has clearly been neglected, his ribs are beginning to show and the basic environment is not suitable for him to be living in.
keeping higher than usual numbers of animals as pets without having the ability to properly house or care for them.
“you can see how they all lead into each other” neglect...
an illegal practice in which two dogs, usually of a Pit Bull breed, are put into an enclosed area for the purpose of attacking and quite frequently, killing each other.
“Have any of you actually witnessed a dog fight?”
when an owner of a pet fails to provide their animal with the proper medical needs such as shots, or neutering/spaying their animal if they have no intentions of breeding them.
Great agitation and anxiety caused by the expectation or the realization of danger
