Removing Those Stubborn Garden Weeds And Other Great
Gardening Tips

Gardening is an activity that has been enjoyed for thousands of years. Many garden to help
feed the family; while others enjoy the sheer pleasure of it. The following article provides you
with ways to make your gardening experience easier and more rewarding.

Place plant materials in big plastic trash bags, so that you can build layers of this material for
use in your compost pile. You can do this during the fall once the leaves have been raked.
Store the bagged leaves in a warm place. In the spring, your leaves will be a good addition
for your compost pile.

In the middle of the day the vegetables have softened, which means they are easily
damaged. Do not twist the vegetable to remove it from the vine; instead, cut the stem to
avoid damaging the plant.

Clay soil can be a real pain to work with as it often sticks to the end of the shovel. Get better
results in clay by rubbing car wax or floor wax onto the shovel, then buff off and dig. Not only
will the clay slide off the surface, but it will keep the end from rusting.

If mildew is forming on your plants, you should not purchase an expensive chemical. Try
mixing a little liquid soap with some baking soda in water. Once a week, spray this on plants
to eliminate the mildew. Baking soda will not damage your plants and treats the mildew
gently but efficiently.

Fertilize your garden regularly. Manure can help your plants grow quickly, but you must use
only commercially created products to reduce the chance of contracting pathogens. There
are many fertilization methods out there; the type is not quite as important as actually using
something.

around it using things like old perfumes or aftershave. These scents overpower the garden's
scents, which causes your dog to lose interest.

It is a good idea to pre-soak your seeds in a dark environment overnight. Use a small
container filled with water to nearly the top and place several seeds in it. This will give your
seeds a good start by making sure they have plenty of water, which they need to sprout.
Your seeds will then have the best chance possible to survive to maturity.

As mentioned, gardening can be an enjoyable, rewarding hobby. The fruits of your time and
labors fail to stop yielding, regardless of the dividends are vibrant color outside your windows
or fresh foods on your kitchen table. Apply these tips to make sure you do everything
properly for better results.
