Social Media Presentation

Editor's Notes

  1. I chose to do my presentation on Internal CEO Blogs. This idea is something that we’d like to use when we rollout the new Intranet in Sharepoint. Although Internal and External blogging are becoming more popular in organizations, I chose to conduct my presentation strictly on internal blogging.
  2. The thought behind this type of feature on the Intranet is that every month we are receiving detailed emails from our CEO and he regularly does get individuals that email him regarding the original email that was sent out.
  3. Why not post these emails in a blog for everyone to see. This will offer the opportunity for everyone to see what others are responding and help build conversation amongst the entire organization. Overtime, the goal should be, to build a culture that warrants this type of behavior and individuals see this as a great opportunity to share their thoughts not only with the CEO, but with the entire organization.
  4. This blog would be maintained by our CEO and will house content, images, and links to other interesting articles. This is something I strongly learned from this Social Media class. The content offered in the blog should continue to be the message that he is sending in his emails. The post should be transparent.
  5. I believe that this type of a blog should be maintained a few times a week or on a set timeframe every month. If you go too far outside of this range, individuals won’t be looking for new posts. If it is within a two week timeframe, individuals will still be commenting from the previous post the next time the new post is completed and this will turn into a continuous cycle. Whatever the determined timeframe is, it needs to be consistent. If we are to roll this out, we’ve got to stick with it. We cannot start and stop.
