2. About Anxiety
Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, but
persistent anxiety can be detrimental to your
physical and emotional health.
However, there are steps you can take to help
manage your anxiety.
3. 1. Exercise
Exercising is one of the most important things you
can do to reduce anxiety.
Make sure to choose something that you enjoy.
Start off with something realistic for you.
If you never exercise, start off by taking brisk walks or
finding some beginner’s yoga routines on YouTube.
Doing something you like and something that is
realistic will help ensure that you don’t give up on
your exercise routine.
4. 2. Try to think rationally
Recognize that the thoughts you’re having are
because of the primitive, fight-or-flight part of your
brain.
Use your rational brain to think through your
thoughts logically, and when possible, come up with
a solution.
5. 3. Distract yourself
While it’s important to confront your anxiety,
sometimes you just need to relax.
Choose a healthy distraction.
Drugs or alcohol may technically distract you, but they will
only end up making the problem worse in the end.
Activities like watching a movie, gardening, reading a
book, or exercising are much more productive.
6. 4. Get enough sleep
Sleeping problems are extremely common for people
who have emotional disorders.
It can be hard to tell if you’re tired because you’re
anxious, or if you’re anxious because you’re tired.
Losing sleep can increase feelings of stress, anger,
and sadness.
7. 5. Share your feelings
When you’re out in public, it can seem like it’s better
to hide your anxiety, but that can make you feel
worse.
Telling the people you’re with that you feel anxious
can help get you out of your own head and reduce
your feelings of anxiety.
8. 6. Seek help from a licensed therapist
Anxiety is extremely treatable.
Not all treatments work for everyone, so there will be
some trial and error.
You also need to be willing to experiment and try
new things.
When you find treatment that works, stick with it.
