The Everglades, Florida
The Everglades located in Florida, are islands that
make up a very fascinating place that bewilders your taste
buds for nature. If you want amazing beaches with soft
sand, clear water as far as the eye can see, you go to the
Everglades.
History
The Everglades haven't always been a national
park, but it became a park in 1947. In 2007, there was
1,074,764 visitors in 2007. In 1800, the Indians were kicked
out of what soon would be the Everglades area and onto the
trail of tears. The Everglades have gone through over 100
years of dredging, draining, and land clearing. The highest
elevation ever recorded was 8ft! The word "Everglades'' is
actually a romantic word, which means everlasting.
