I obtained my B.A. in archaeology from ENAH in Mexico City in 1994 and my Ph.D. in archaeology from The University of Calgary, Canada in 1999. Since 1997, I have been involved in developing GIS applications to archaeological research. My dissertation Site Interaction and Political Geography in the Upper Usumacinta Region during the Late Classic: A GIS Approach, was nominated to receive the Governor General’s Award as the best doctoral dissertation of 1999, and was published in the British Archaeological Reports International Series in 2001.
