3. Terms of Payment in International Transactions
To succeed in today’s global marketplace and win sales against foreign
competitors, exporters must offer customers attractive sales terms
supported by the appropriate payment methods.
4.
5. Cash in Advance
With cash-in-advance payment terms, an exporter can avoid credit risk because
payment is received before the ownership of the goods is transferred. For
international sales.
6. Open Account
An open account transaction is a sale where the goods are shipped and
delivered before payment is due, which in international sales is typically in
30, 60 or 90 days.
7. Documentary Collection
A documentary collection (D/C) is a transaction whereby the exporter entrusts the collection of the
payment for a sale to its bank, which sends the documents that its buyer needs to the importer’s bank ,
with instructions to release the documents to the buyer for payment.
8. Letter of Credit
A letter of credit, also referred to as a documentary credit, is a contractual agreement
whereby the issuing bank (importer's bank), acting on behalf of the customer (the importer
or buyer), promises to make payment to the beneficiary or exporter against the receipt of
complying stipulated documents.
LCs are one of the most versatile and secure instruments available to international traders.
Since LCs are credit instruments, the importer's credit with their bank is used to obtain an
LC. The importer pays the bank a fee to render this service. An LC is useful when reliable
credit information about a foreign buyer is difficult to obtain or if the foreign buyer's credit
is unacceptable, but the exporter is satisfied with the creditworthiness of the importer's bank.

10. Payment under Consignment Sale
An international consignment transaction is based on a
contractual arrangement in which the foreign distributor
receives, manages, and sells the goods for the exporter who
retains title to the goods until they are sold.
11. Global Advertising & Culture
A global advertising strategy is a marketing plan that helps businesses reach customers
worldwide. Unlike traditional advertising, it does not require the company to
redesign its advertisements for each country. It also promotes consistency. Its main
message remains the same.

13. Advertising Budget
An advertising budget is an estimate of a company's promotional expenditures over a
certain time period. More importantly, it is the money a company is willing to set
aside to accomplish its marketing objectives. An advertising budget is part of a
