About Islamic Microfinance

build assets, ensure smooth self-consumption, and manage risks. Financial services for poor people
have proven to be a powerful instrument for reducing poverty, enabling them to build assets, increase
incomes,andreducetheirvulnerabilitytoeconomicstress.
Broadly, Microfinance refers to a movement that envisions a world in which low-income households
havepermanentaccesstoarangeofhighqualityandaffordablefinancialservicesofferedbyarangeof
retail providers to finance income-producing activities, build assets, stabilize consumption, and
protect against risks but as per market studies conventional micro financial system could not serve the
potential as expected due to the few deficiencies in the system. Islamic Microfinance has traits to

On October 6 , 2013 AlHuda Center of Islamic Banking & Economics has organized 3 Global Islamic
Microfinance Forum in Dubai, U.A.E. with the vision to expand Islamic Microfinance all around the
world. During the day, conference participants had the opportunity to choose among various sessions
to discuss topics and develop recommendations. At the beginning of each session, participants were
presented with background information and discussion questions and following a structured process
ofbrainstormingandinformationexchange.
