DATES TO DO THE ACTIVITIES:
Kickapoo River Trip Itinerary
Monday, July 28 – Drop off and pick up at Monona Campus
Get to know each other and go over the itinerary for the trip. Pack up the packs, go over meals for
the trip and pack trail mix to have while paddling.
Tuesday, July 29 – Drop off at Monona Campus (See you Friday!)
Load bus and travel to Ontario, WI. Pick up the canoes and launch from Ontario, at Landing 1.
We will paddle approximately 6 miles today and will camp this night at
Wildcat Mountain State Park, along the Kickapoo River.
Wednesday, July 30
Tear down camp, pack up the packs and canoes and paddle on the River towards La Farge. We
will paddle approximately 6.5 miles today and will camp along the Kickapoo
River at campsite Y.
Thursday, July 31
Tear down camp, pack up the packs and canoes and paddle on the River towards La Farge. We
will paddle approximately 10 miles today and will make it to La Farge, where we will spend the
night at a campground in the city.
Friday, August 1 – Pick up at Monona Campus
Tear down camp, pack up the packs and load the bus to head back to ALNC. We will unpack all
of the gear, put gear away and look at pictures of the trip until pick up.
Severe Weather Plan:
If severe weather strikes, trip leaders are trained and will go over trailside procedures with all of
the campers and safely take shelter where available. They will assess the weather every day and
delay departure or change plans as needed. The trip leaders have weather radios with them as well
as cell phones.

DESCRIBE THE PLACE WHERE THE ACTIVITIES ARE DONE:
The Kickapoo is a beautiful, 125 mile river
that meanders through Wisconsin’s
Driftless Area. This river system, one of the
oldest in the state, features many unique
rock formations that call for exploring!
While paddling, we will keep our eyes out
for bald eagles, sandhill cranes, otters and
fox.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WE CAN DO THERE:
We paddle one of Wisconsin’s most scenic waterways.
