  1. 1. Steppin’ to the Summit! The Whitefield Wilderness Explorers’ Mount Washington Adventure
  2. 2. ONE CLUB, ONE GOAL, ONE MOUNTAIN!
  3. 3. WHO WE ARE <ul><li>The Whitefield Wilderness Explorers is the Whitefield School’s outdoor club. Our club is made up of students in grades five through eight. Only in our premier year we already have over twenty members and four club advisors. Our members are all unique with many interests, but have one in common: the love of the outdoors. </li></ul>

ADVENTURES THIS YEAR <ul><li>Four training hikes: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Lonesome Lake </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Mount Willard </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>North and Middle Sugarloaves </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Mount Avalon </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Weekly winter snowshoe program partnering with the Appalachian Mountain Club </li></ul><ul><li>HikeSafe, Leave no Trace, and track and scat training </li></ul><ul><li>Regular weekly meetings and activities </li></ul>
  5. 5. THE GOAL… <ul><li>At the first meeting of the Whitefield Wilderness Explorers energy, interest and ambition were sky high! We quickly decided to take on a grand goal: to hike the highest mountain in the northeast, Mount Washington. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but the happy hikers were up for the challenge! </li></ul>
  6. 10. WE REACHED OUR GOAL <ul><li>19 students, 6 advisors and 2 AMC guides started the hike Thursday morning; Friday morning everyone reached the summit. </li></ul><ul><li>All of the hikers were thrilled but exhausted. They were thankful for the ride down in the Great Glen Vans… </li></ul>
