1. Primary Truck Broker Liability Insurance
What Is It and Why Is It Important
Effective June 1, 2010, all shipments moved by AB Transport, Inc. and AB Expedited, LLC are
covered by a $2 million Primary Truck Broker Liability Insurance (PTBLI) policy. It covers our use of
non-owned, hired motor vehicles to move brokered freight*.
What is PTBLI?
This is a significant addition to our risk management strategy. It covers losses (personal injury and
property casualty) that occur involving an AB-brokered motor carrier dispatched on a load by an AB
representative.
Why did we get it?
There has been an increase in legal judgments against brokers, which has resulted in more scrutiny
of what the broker’s role is when an accident happens, and consequently more risk. These cases
involve serious injury or loss of life by a carrier placed on a load by an independent agent of a
brokerage company.
What does this mean to the AB customer?
For those customers concerned about risk management, the addition of this policy creates a
significant competitive advantage for AB. It is only a matter of time before the largest competitors
recognize this risk and take action. We believe it is essential to protect ourselves, our agents and,
ultimately, our customers in this manner. We believe our customers will see our commitment to
financial responsibility as a reason to do business with AB.

In our ongoing efforts to offer you the best products and services in the industry, we also upgraded
our Contingent Cargo policy in 2010 to cover both Limits of Liability (now $500,000) and breadth of
coverage – the policy is written on a primary motor truck cargo form and adds coverage for certain
Errors and Omissions.
In summary, AB offers:
1) Primary Truck Broker Liability Insurance -- $ 2 million (we believe few brokers have such
coverage)
2) Contingent Cargo Insurance -- $500,000 limits of liability compared to the industry standard
of $100,000
