Dear Yunlong,
You are a GENIUS!!
Nobel Laureate David Baltimore is now working on EXACTLY your idea using info
from the ‘Berlin patient’ and the ccr5 knockout.
This is a brilliant concept and I urge you to explore on the internet who is performing
this type of important urgent research.
Best

Dear Jerry,
Thank you for your reply. It is early morning last Saturday, during which I had a thought
about HIV treatment by the iPS cell technology after ReMeDY courses training. It is just
a preliminary, immature thought without detail, so that is why I would like to see you and
consult you about its feasibility.
I have a little background about HIV DNA vaccine study. There is some certain
population in Africa who are against HIV infection due to the deficiency of co-receptor
CCR5 working with CD4. I am just wondering it is more difficult or same in technology to
establish an iPS cell with certain gene mutation. If it is feasible, can we prepare an iPS
cells with CCR5 deficiency using somatic cell of HIV-infected patients and make cells
differentiated into T cell line and then transplant these cells to the patient, these new T
cells can not kill old HIV-infected T cell or macrophage cell, but they are resisting the
HIV attack and help re-establish patient’s immune system, even though HIV still exist in
their body. Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Sorry for disturbing you, have a good trip!
