I am a former member of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) Decontamination Committee which
produced guidance documents for State wide hospital use. I am also an NPQ certified Hazmat technician
and radiation specialist as defined by 29CFR1910.120.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Radiation Safety Specialist University of Georgia, Athens, GA 2013 – present
 Run the UGA sealed source testing program
 Perform and analyze swipe tests on sealed sources
 Certified as a hazmat radiation specialist
HazMat Operations Coordinator University of Georgia, Athens, GA 2002 – present
 Manager for the UGA’s HazMat team (HART – Hazard Assessment Response Team)
 Responded approximately 200 times to Hazmat and IAQ situations on and off campus
 Liaison to the Athens Clarke County Hazmat team with who we have a mutual aid agreement
 Acquired a $240K HazMat equipment grant from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency
 Development of the UGA Hazmat team (HART - http://www.esd.uga.edu/hart/) Duties include
monthly team training, development of team SOPs, oversight of all campus spill responses
 State of Georgia NPQ (National Professional Qualifications) certified hazmat technician
 Extensive expertise in the use of HazMat detection and response equipment, personal protective
equipment and HazMat procedures
 Present training on radiation safety, chemical safety, hazardous materials response, and energetic
materials
 Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and forms for the HazMat team
 Assist with safety training including UGA graduate level courses (EHSC 8100 “Safe and Responsible

 Developed the PPE/Decontamination instruction station for Day 2 of ADLS training

Training Given
An Introduction to Hazardous Materials Responses, provided for PHRM 5350, “Training Health Care
Professionals for Weapons of Mass Destruction Events.” Course provided annually for the past 8 years for the
UGA Pharmacy Department.
ADLS Training, taught 30 times over the past 12 years in conjunction with Augusta University Department of
Emergency Medicine, and Emory Universities’ CEPAR (Critical Event Preparedness and Response) unit. I
assisted in the development of the curriculum for the PPE/Decon station of ADLS.
The Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS) Course is a two day class that presents an “all-hazard” approach
to emergency medicine. ADLS is a national standard that is recognized by both the AMA and the CDC. More
