2. JOEL MEYEROWITZ
Joel Meyerowitz was born in New
York on March 6th 1938. He first started
photography in 1962, he is a street
photographer and does portrait and
landscapes.
He photographed the aftermath of
9/11, he was the only photographer
allowed restricted access to ‘ground
zero’ immediately following the
attack.

4. COMPOSITION
This is a picture by Joel
Meyerowitz, it is of the
aftermath of 9/11. This photo
was took in November 2001, it
shows stairs that would have
been used by people trying to
escape the attack. In the
background you can see
other buildings that have
been effected by the event.
He used the stairs as his main
focal point.

5. STYLE
Joel Meyerowitz is an urban landscape
photographer. He photographs buildings
and city surroundings rather than the
countryside.

6. STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
I like this piece of work by Joel
Meyerowitz because of the
way he has captured the
rubble as well as all the
buildings not affected by the
attack. I think it is interesting
and brave of him to
photograph the aftermath of
these attacks, as they
affected so many people in so
many different ways and I
think it would have been hard
to seem the outcome of all
that.
