ENGINEERING PROJECT EXPERIENCE--Michigan Technological University
Steel Design Project (Structural Field) 2016 Mar to 2016 Apr
Objective: Design a 3-floor building frame
Calculated the axial, flexural, and buckling capacity to make sure the structure meet AISC
demand
Research Assistant (Structural Field) 2014 Jan to 2014 Apr
Project Title: Low-force Magneto-Rheological Damper Design for Small-Scale Structural Control
Experimentation
Objective: Add dampers system to building to avoid collapsing during certain earthquake
Made specific dampers for small model of structure
Built and integrated operational amplifiers in testing equipment to sure the recording data
meet collecting data requirement
Developed data acquisition software to meet small model structure application
Senior Design (Structural Field) 2014 Aug to 2014 Dec
Project Title: Structural Design Plan for Piers Gorge Unit Located in the Menominee River State
Recreation Area
Objective: Modify equipment at the Piers Gorge Unit to allow more convenient access for tourists
Designed an emergency wire rope crossing to allow emergency personnel quick river
crossing
MS (Asphalt Pavement Field) 2015 Jan to 2015 Aug
Project Title: Induction healing of asphalt mixtures containing steel wool fibers-Dr. Dai
Objective: Increase self-healing ability in asphalt mixture by adding steel wool fibers
Mixed steel wool fibers with asphalt liquid to make sure they are fully mixed
Ran DCT test to determine the fractural energy increase; Dynamic Modules test to make sure
the recoverable strain and permanent deformation was acceptable; Viscosity test to know the
best mixing temperature; 3 Point Bending test to determine the compressive strength
increase
Project Title: Low emission asphalt with crumb rubber-Dr. You 2016 May to 2016 Aug
Objective: add different rubber to sure the ductility and strength of asphalt mixture increase
Ran the asphalt mixture test to check whether the ductility increase and the optimization
rubber content and best type of rubber
