2. Omsk state medical academy (OmSMA) was organized in
1920 in the form of a medical office at the Siberian veterinary
and zootechnical institute which was transformed into
independent West Siberian state medical institute in 1921 . In
1925 it was renamed as Omsk state medical institute, and in
1994 it became Omsk state medical academy.
3. The first faculty was the medical one, organized in 1920. In
1931 the pediatric faculty was created. In 1938 the sanitary-
and-hygienic faculty (renamed in 1989 as medico-preventive
faculty) was created. The stomatological faculty opened in
1957. The youngest faculty is pharmaceutical, opened in
2002.
5. Valentina PAVLOVNA BISYARINA
(1912-1997)
• Participant of the Great Patriotic
War, Major of Medical Service, Hero
of Socialist Labor, Honorary
Freewoman of Omsk. She was one of
the leading scientists in pediatrics,
whose name was well known in the
country and abroad.
• She was the author of over 400
scientific papers, 8 doctoral and 40
master's theses were made under
her leadership. For her great service
to the Fatherland Bisyarina was
awarded high government awards,
such as the Order of the Red Star and
the Red Banner of Labor, Badge of
Honor, the Order the October
Revolution.
