Astrologyreadingschartthe positionsof stars,planets,andthe mooninthe twelve Zodiacsigns,asa
meansto predictthe future.Employingthe Zodiacsignunderwhichyourbirthdate falls,astrology
readingsare usedinforetellingeventsinrelation tothe planetarypositions.“The belief in,andpractice
of Astrologyhasbecome the mostcommonof occultpracticesand deceptivelyappearstobe spiritually
benigninthe eyesof mostpeople.A recentsurveyestimatedthatover 1 Billionpeople readtheir
horoscopeseverymorningtolearnwhattheyshouldexpect,andhow theyshouldbehavethatday.A
dailyhoroscope isfoundinvirtuallyeverynewspaperacross the country.
Thisphenomenonisquite widespread inthe world today.While astrologyreadings are aserious
businesstosome people, otherswill tellyouitismerelyamusement.Some evenwill resorttonot
proceedingwith theirday’schores until theygetdirectionfromtheir“charts.”However,most
newspapersandwebsitesseemtoputlittle emphasisonpredicting stock etconhoroscopes as being
accurate and therefore attacha“for entertainmentpurposesonly.”
Some Christiansmaywantto knowwhetheritreally mattersif we readourhoroscopesforfunand can
theyhave any effectif we viewourhoroscopesasentertainment?Godsaysitdoesmatter! As suchwe
wishto discussthe followingexamples thatoppose this activity:We know thatChristianity and
Occultismare opposedtoeach concept. Dr JohnAnkerbergandJohnWeldonin TheFactson Astrology
state "The astrologicart isheldto be the keyto all the occultsciences." Theystate furtherthat “Most
occultistsuse Astrologyandmanyastrologerspractice otheroccultarts.Both Astrologersandoccultists
admitthat Astrologyisa pillarof occultism.”Some astronomersadmitthatAstrologyisanoccult
practice.In An ABCof WitchcraftPastand Present, whichDoreenValiente observesthat"Astrology...is
anotherof the fundamentalsof magic.Itisstudiedbywitchand magicianalike."
Science writerandengineerLawrence Jerome,inAstrologyDisproved declaresthatof all the occult
"sciences,"astrologyappearsmostscientific,butisreallynothingmore thana magical systemfor
controllingothers,"andhasplayedarole inthe magical ‘sciences’"alchemy,blackmagic,the conjuring
of spirits,necromancy,andeveninthe magical practicessuchasthe use of talismans."In AReady
Defense, Josh McDowell explainshowthe entire premise of astrologywasbuiltuponfaultyinformation,
includingthe numberof planetsinoursolarsystem. Whenmanyof usgrew up, we were taughtthat
there were nine planetsinthe SolarSystem.Askids,memorizingthislistwasanearlyrightof passage of
‘nerdpride’:Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars, Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus,Neptune andPluto.Butthenin2005,
Mike Brown discoveredEris,anicyobjectthoughttobe aboutthe same size as Pluto,outbeyondits
orbit.That wouldbringthe total numberof planetstoten. So whathappensto all those astrological
predictions? There’snoturningback,textbookswouldneedtobe changed. Inorderto settle the major
dispute,the International Astronomical Unionmetin2006, andargued for,and againstPluto’s
‘planethood’.Some astronomersadvocatedwideningthe numberof planetstotwelve,includingPluto,
itsmoon Charon,the AsteroidCeres,andthe newlydiscoveredEris.Inthe end,theychangedthe
definitionof whatmakesaplanet,andsadly,Plutodoesn’tmake the cut.

2. Furtherto thisinGenesis11; we findthe story of the Towerof Babel.Asthe people builtthe tower,
there was onlyone language onearth andtheysaid“Let us buildacity and a tower,whose topmay
reach untoheaven...”Some claimthatthe towerof Babel was7 levels,one foreachof the 5 known
planetsatthat time and the nexttwolevelswereforthe moonandsun (theirobjectsof worship atthe
time).Inkeepingwiththeirastrological beliefsthese levelswere coloredforeachgodit honored.But
God saysthere are to be no othergodsbefore Him, and therefore thisactionontheirpart wasidol
worship.Hispunishmentwastoscatterthe people acrossthe earthandcause themto speakother
languages.Lookingtothe starsand planetsforyourlife decisionsisidol worshipwhenwe should
insteadbe lookingtoGodand His Word. We can learnthisin Genesis11:8-9, “Sothe LORD scattered
them from there over all the earth, andthey stopped buildingthecity. 9
That iswhy it was called

—becausethere the LORD confusedthe languageofthe whole world.From there the LORD
scattered them over the face of the whole earth”.
One manyalso wantto know the harm and consequences fromdependingonastrology. The Bible tells
us inDeuteronomy 18:10-11, “Let noone be foundamongyouwho sacrificeshisson or daughter in
the fire, who practices divination orsorcery, interprets omens,engages inwitchcraft,or castsspells,or
who isa medium or spiritistor who consultsthe dead.” In the same passage in verse 14 itsays, “The
nationsyouwill dispossesslistentothose who practice sorcery or divination.Butas for you, the LORD
your Godhas notpermitted you to do so.”
Anotherverynegative constraintfor Astrology isthatit rejectsmanybiblical teachings,andinstead
adherestoocculticviewswhichgive the worshipandglorytoGod’screationratherthan to God alone.
Christiansneed tolooktoGod alone forguidance inour dailylives.Goddirectsuswithoutthe fallible
charts of occulticbeliefs.If youhave beeninvolvedinoccultisminanyway -- evenjustreadingyour
horoscope -- leave italone,walkawayfromit.Repentof anyassociationwithall facetsof the occult.Itis
sinand an abominationtoGod.AskGod’s forgiveness.He willandwill leadyouintotruth.Because:
“… for,“Everyonewho callson the name of the Lord will be saved.”(Romans10:13).
